STATION 4
The Assessment Maze (Crossing the maze)

Objective:
The objective of The Assessment Maze is for teams to solve questions and navigate through a maze, applying key concepts to progress. The goal is to reach the end of the maze while managing resources and avoiding setbacks from incorrect answers.

The Assessment Maze is a team-based game where participants navigate a maze by answering questions related to ISO 29992, a standard for assessing learning outcomes. Teams must correctly answer questions to move forward in the maze. If they answer incorrectly, they must return to the beginning. If a team wants to skip a question and try another one, they must give up one of their popsicles, which they earn for each correct answer. The goal is to make it to the end of the maze while managing their popsicles wisely and applying their understanding of assessment principles.
Roles of Participants:
-
Team Members (Participants): Teams consist of multiple members, but only one member at a time enters the maze. The other team members work together to answer the questions related to the maze's challenges. They provide guidance and help the maze participant with the correct answers to advance.
-
Teacher (Facilitator): The teacher provides the questions at each checkpoint in the maze. They listen to the team's answers and determine if they are correct. After each correct answer, the teacher signals the participant in the maze to move forward. The teacher also ensures the game runs smoothly and fairly.
Key Takeaways of the Game:
- Assessment Knowledge: Understand key principles of ISO 29992, like security, validity, and reliability.
- Problem Solving: Apply critical thinking to navigate the maze and answer assessment-related questions.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with teammates to solve questions and guide the participant in the maze.
- Resource Management: Use popsicles wisely to skip difficult questions and manage setbacks.
- Fairness & Clarity: Ensure fairness in assessments and clarity in results.
